Why we're getting behind Montell Douglas and London 2012.

We are delighted to announce that we are now supporting local athlete, Montell Douglas, as she attempts to qualify for the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Following the appointment of BMW Group as the Official Automotive Partner of the London 2012 Games, BMW is now actively supporting British athletes, such as Ellie Simmonds and Louis Smith, via the BMW London 2012 Performance Team. Meanwhile, in line with the Performance Team initiative, BMW dealers like us will be working with local athletes, supporting their endeavours to qualify for Team GB or ParalympicsGB.

Montell Douglas trains locally, at the Lee Valley HIPAC in Enfield. Lewisham born Montell has been sprinting since the age of 15 and at just 25 has already achieved a gold medal in the 4x100m relay at the Commonwealth Games in 2010, a 100m silver in the 2007 U23 European Championships and came first in the 2007 BUSA Championships over 60 metres.

‘I'm really grateful to Stephen James Enfield and BMW for their support,’ said Montell. ‘It's tough trying to qualify for an Olympic team place and it's a big help knowing that they are behind me, helping to raise funds and awareness. It's also fantastic having a brand new BMW 118d Convertible from now until the end of the Games. There's a lot of travelling to heats, competitions and promotional events so it's great being able to arrive there in style.’
